RMS looks crazy and acts crazy, but sometimes it takes a crazy person to come up with an idea that's actually simple enough to create real change.

It was interesting to read about RMS's approach and a lawyer's approach being presented side by side.  Lawyer's argument was undoubtedly well-considered and nuanced, but RMS's idea is one I can actually get behind.  It's easy to explain, and every programmer I know seems to already agree with it - even the people who care nothing for free software and only want to make proprietary software.  Pretending software patents are sometimes okay just gives ammunition to opponents.
