From: Kevin Collins <kevcol@netgate.net> To : <apmd-list@worldvisions.ca> Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1999 21:10:21 -0700 (PDT) boot: (-1% unknown)Hi- I am trying to get to the bottom of someone's apm problem on a Pro-Star laptop (I am afraid I do not have the model number). Basically, even though they have a charged battery, the boot message reports this: Starting up APM daemon: apmd[122]: On-line: ***(-1% unknown) This is behaviour that one usually sees in a desktop system that someone has apm loading upon boot and therefore with no battery. In addition, the output to 'apm' is either 'AC on-line' or 'AC off-line', depending on if it is plugged or not. No battery 'n%' status. I am guessing there is a connection and that apm is not actually assessing the condition of the battery. Does this sound accurate? I am fairly new to apm and have looked through archives/dejanews but have not found a problem analogous to this that has been posted/published. I thank you in advance for any advice.
