From: Avery Pennarun <apenwarr@worldvisions.ca> To : <apmd-list@worldvisions.ca> Date: Sat, 5 Jun 1999 22:35:14 -0400 apmd 3.0beta7 is releasedHi all, Mostly due to the work of Craig Markwardt <craigm@pcasun3.gsfc.nasa.gov>, apmd 3.0beta7 finally has the "central dispatch script" support that we've been waiting for for awhile now. He also fixed a bunch of bugs and generally cleaned up the code. Way to go, Craig. :) Yes, that actually means you can reliably (I think :)) do your favourite things when you switch between battery and AC power. Yay! You also get lots of other flexibility... look at the apmd_proxy script for details. After adding Craig's (rather major) changes, I also added some patches from other people and fixed a few things myself. In fact, I took out almost all the 'sleep' commands, so it should now suspend quickly again. At least, it does on my system. So anyway, I guess it's pretty safe to say that if something doesn't work, it's probably my fault. Don't blame Craig. But it must work, right? Grab the source code from my web page: http://www.worldvisions.ca/~apenwarr/apmd/ A debian package for the "potato" distribution (but using mostly "slink" libraries, so it will still work on stable Debian systems like my own) should be showing up on ftp.debian.org in a couple of days. The debian package uses a different apmd_proxy script than the default one; I don't know if that's a good idea or not. Look in the debian/ subdirectory of the source code to see the Debian script, and tell me if you like it better than the default. It runs scripts from /etc/apm/suspend.d, resume.d, and event.d rather than having everything embedded in apmd_proxy itself. Have fun, Avery P.S. first one to send me man page updates wins the prize. (No, there isn't really a prize, but we really need man page updates.) Index: [thread] [date] [subject] [author] |
