There are user-defined reasons not to suspend. Normally, I want my
notebook to suspend when closed, but NOT if I've just ran long
compilation. In such case I want to do > /etc/nosuspend and just close
the notebook so that it does not eat space on my desk.

:-) There were some problems with need to poll (which you corrected
independently) and thinkpad used rather strange combinations of flags
(which made apm unhappy). And I cleaned up a code a little bit.
