From: Richards, David <David.Richards@ccc.govt.nz> To : Avery Pennarun <apenwarr@worldvisions.ca> RE: HibernationHi, Sorry - here's what I ment by hibernation... Shutdown the computer - power off, and have it startup at the same state you left off. Windows 98 & Windows NT power management that allows shutdown, suspend & hibernate. shutdown - shuts down & powers off - I have this working with Linux... suspend - put processor to a low power state, and all processing stops, battery still used. (works with Linux) hibernate - pauses, saves all memory to a hibernation file, and powers off, when you turn on the machine, it continues from the "pause". (Haven't found any info on this for Linux yet) / David -----Original Message----- From: Avery Pennarun [mailto:apenwarr@worldvisions.ca] Sent: Monday, 25 January 1999 16:03 To: Richards, David Cc: apmd-list@worldvisions.ca Subject: Re: Hibernation On Mon, Jan 25, 1999 at 03:03:39PM +1300, Richards, David wrote: > Anyone know if Linux supports Hibernation? > Where can I get info on this? I don't know what you mean -- perhaps I know it by a different name. What specifically is hibernation? Have fun, Avery Index: [thread] [date] [subject] [author] |
