I don't know about doing this on "halt", but you can use:

	apm --suspend
	
for very nearly the same effect (I think?)

Poweroff-on-halt is an APM feature.  It works on my laptop, not sure about
an Asus.

developer.intel.com has some ACPI documents somewhere.
