(fwd)Hi all, Enabling APM support is one of the few reasons you might need to rebuild the kernel after you install Debian Linux. Is there any way (sysctl? loadable module?) that could be used to make APM a run-time optional feature? Could this make it into the 2.2 kernel? Have fun, Avery ----- Forwarded message from Adam Di Carlo <apharris@burrito.onshore.com> ----- To: debian-devel@lists.debian.org Subject: Re: Things left to do for release. Putting APM support in the stock kernels would *reduce* the number of systems which can boot from the stock kernel. It's an option, it's not required, it causes problems for some, and it's not needed for booting -- therefore! it will never be part of the stock kernel. You have to build your own kernel if you want APM, that that's how it will *always* be on x86. -- .....Adam Di Carlo....adam@onShore.com.....<URL:http://www.onShore.com/> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-request@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
