From: Mads Villadsen <maxx@daimi.au.dk> To : <apmd-list@worldvisions.ca> Date: 10 Apr 2000 14:43:39 +0200 kernel 2.2.15pre15 and hibernationI am currently using apmd 3.0final (the one that came with RedHat 6.2), and I am running the 2.2.15pre15 kernel on my laptop. The problem is that I can 't get it to hibernate - neither using the apm program or using the designated hotkey. The screen simply goes blank, and then all I can do is reboot the machine. The hibernate function works just fine under DOS and Windows. What can I do to make it hibernate properly? The laptop is a Targa Traveller 600 with a PhoenixBIOS NoteBIOS 4.0 Output from apm -v: APM BIOS 1.2 (kernel driver 1.12) Since the screen goes blank, I thought it might be connected to the fact, that I use the CESA framebuffer device, but I disabled it, and the same thing still occurs. Here are (what I believe to be) the relevant sections from the kernels .config file: CONFIG_APM=y # CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND is not set CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE=y CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE=y # CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK is not set # CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_MULTIPLE_SUSPEND is not set # CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_SUSPEND_BOUNCE is not set # CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT is not set # CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS is not set # CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF is not set I have also tried setting CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF and then recompiling my kernel, but it didn't help. -- "Life is a big wild crazy tossed salad, but you don't eat it, no sir!
