From: Robin Atwood <robin.atwood@ibm.net> To : APMD list <apmd-list@worldvisions.ca> Date: Sat, 25 Mar 2000 16:54:27 +0700 Kernel 2.3.99-pre1What is the situation with apmd and the soon-to-be 2.4 kernel? I have built kernel 2.3.99-pre1 on my laptop and rebuilt apmd 3.0final against the kernel source. The apmd daemon starts OK, output from /proc/apm looks the same as with 2.2.14, but when I issue 'apm -s' the machine locks up solid. A power-off and restart is the only option. I am using the same kernel config options as with 2.2.14. CONFIG_PM=y # CONFIG_ACPI is not set CONFIG_APM=y # CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND is not set # CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE is not set # CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE is not set CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK=y CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_MULTIPLE_SUSPEND=y CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_SUSPEND_BOUNCE=y # CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT is not set CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS=y # CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF is not set N.B. When you configure ACPI on, APM gets turned off! What's going on here?
