It *should*, if the board conforms to the APM specification. The most important thing is to be sure that your Linux kernel is compiled with APM support. I think it is usually *not* in most commercial Linuces for compatibility reasons. The second most important thing is to have the apmd package. It's not necessary to run the apmd daemon, which provides battery logging and more flexible event handling.
